Last Friday HS Art Teacher, Miss Vincent, took a group of art students to Pittsburg State University where they experienced what it was like to be an art student in the art department. They toured the art department, university art gallery, met the professors, learned about available art courses and participated in an art workshop focused on Concept Art where they played games that challenged their creativity and artistic abilities to create characters that they then turned into trading cards. They also got a personal guided campus tour from Miss Vincent (a Pittsburg State Alumni) where they learned about all of the buildings and what programs are available at PSU. What a great day for our students. Thank you Miss Vincent!

PARENTS and STUDENTS!! The high school art teacher would like to share the Facebook page she has been keeping for the high school art class which is called, "Miss. Vincent Art Room." The page shows all of the fun things they have been doing in art classes from art projects to Technique Thursdays to seeing some of the activities that the high school art club does like painting business windows in town, working concessions and having parties. . If you have an incoming freshman for next year have them check out the page so they have a chance to see some of the things they will be doing if they choose to take an art class next year. Use the image below as a reference to find the page on Facebook! Go Art Tigers!
Join us tomorrow morning for the FFA Community Breakfast.

Congratulations to our football program, athletic department, students and staff on receiving the SMFOA Sportsmanship award. This award will be presented at tonight's basketball game. Below is a description of the award.
At the season ending business meeting of the SMFOA held in late October, SMFOA member officials nominate the school they feel is deserving of the award based on the actions of the players, coaches and fans. After consideration of all nominees and an opportunity to offer support or disagreement with each nomination, the officials vote and one school is selected to receive the sportsmanship award. The potential winner has their conduct monitored through the completion of the season in the event a display of poor sportsmanship occurs during the playoffs, including the state championship game.
Sportsmanship can be defined in many ways, but to the members of the SMFOA, sportsmanship is about respect. It is about self-respect; players having the discipline to play the physical game of football with the grit and toughness it requires but maintaining self-control and never drawing attention to oneself. It’s about respect for the game; playing and coaching within the rules and accepting the consequences for all officiating decisions, positive and negative. It’s about respect for the opponent; being humble in victory and gracious in defeat. School administration, coaches, players, cheerleaders and fans all contribute to a positive atmosphere and the promotion of good sportsmanship.
Congratulations to the Stockton Football Tigers, two time winners of the SMFOA Shelby Raney Sportsmanship Award: 2008 and 2023.
